Veneers for teeth are an extremely common form of dental treatment, recognized as the basis of aesthetic dentistry. In many cases, they allow you to achieve unexpected, amazing effects that greatly improve the self-esteem of patients and increase their self-confidence.

Veneers – a beautiful smile at your fingertips

In our dental practice, we offer patients the best, repeatedly proven solutions, and this is why we offer dental veneers. They make it possible to obtain a perfect Hollywood star smile. Veneers are thin porcelain or composite flakes that perfectly correct minor discolorations, irregularities or interruptions. Porcelain veneers are durable and resistant to damage, while composite veneers applied without filing do not require interference in tooth enamel.

How are veneers applied?

Porcelain or composite flakes are adhered to the front wall of the tooth, thus masking all kinds of discolorations and imperfections, and significantly improving the aesthetics of the smile. The application of veneers is preceded by a conversation with the patient, during which the dentist finds out all the patient’s expectations as to the final result of the procedure and remains open to various suggestions. Before the procedure of applying the veneers, we take an X-ray image, followed by, if necessary, filing the front surface of the teeth. This method, despite appearances, is not invasive and effectively improves the patient’s smile, thus increasing their psychological comfort.

In some cases, the application of composite veneers may be accompanied by a tooth bonding procedure based on the reconstruction of teeth using composites. This treatment does not affect tooth enamel and brings very satisfactory results.

Porcelain veneers are extremely thin porcelain flakes applied to the front wall of the tooth. Their advantage is undoubtedly the aesthetic design – they can be precisely personalized and adapted to the patient’s needs. They come in a variety of colours and shapes. Our dentists make every effort to choose the type that best suits the patient. Because they are extremely thin, they do not give the impression of artificiality.

Porcelain veneers, despite their small thickness, are more durable than tooth enamel. However, the patient should be careful when eating hard foods that could damage them. Caution and proper oral prophylaxis makes it possible for such a veneer to last from 5 to 10 years.

Porcelain veneers – who are they for?

This type of veneers is a perfect solution for people who can be proud of their healthy teeth and gums. They are not recommended for people who have loose teeth, damaged by periodontitis. Porcelain veneer is often the only way to get rid of a special type of discolouration, as well as a rescue for mechanically damaged or irregular teeth.

Composite veneers are made of a composite material that is used to fill cavities in teeth. They are not as durable as porcelain veneers, but its advantages include a lower price and ease of application. It can also be used as a temporary veneer, preceding the porcelain veneer to be applied in the future.

The composite veneer is made after a thorough examination of the patient’s oral cavity performed by the dentist – the gums must be healthy and the teeth must not be affected by periodontitis. A composite veneer can be applied during a single visit to the dental practice, because it is performed directly in the patient’s oral cavity. Before the procedure the patient personalizes the veneer – they determine its colour and shape. The advantage of a composite veneer is that teeth do not require prior sandblasting. Their surface is etched with a special acid. After rinsing, the dentist uses a bond that binds the teeth with the composite material, which is systematically applied layer by layer until a satisfactory result is obtained. It is considered that a composite veneer’s strength is lower than porcelain veneer’s and its durability is from 2 to 5 years.

After applying each type of veneer, remember about a balanced diet and maintaining proper oral hygiene. Experienced dentists in the Dentysta dental practice will give you tips on how to care for them so that they serve you as long as possible!
