Dental implants currently provide the best way of filling gaps in dentition. They restore the lost aesthetics of the patient’s smile and, most importantly, their health. They can be used both in the case of individual missing tooth and total toothlessness. Thanks to implantology, patients regain their lost quality of life.

What is a dental implant?

A dental implant replaces the root of a natural tooth. It has the shape of a screw and is placed in the bone. Made of biocompatible material, it fully interacts with the human body, which makes implants a safe and durable solution. We emphasize that the dental implant is not visible and is one of the three elements of tooth restoration.

Another element is the connector, which is placed on the implant. It is made of titanium or zirconium. It imitates the anatomical function of the tooth’s neck and connects the dental implant placed in the bone with a properly selected prosthetic restoration.

A porcelain or fully ceramic crown can be placed on the connector. Bridges are also mounted on implants. A good implantologist will choose this element so that it perfectly imitates the natural tooth and provides the appropriate aesthetic effect. This is particularly important in the anterior segment, which is the most visible.

Dental implants for health

Dental implants are the best solution in case of tooth loss, especially for health reasons. They inhibit bone loss and prevent the destruction of other teeth. Importantly, they do not require filing of teeth in the vicinity of the missing tooth.

Implantology is a unique field that gives patients the opportunity to return to normal functioning despite the lack of dentition. Dental implants are a guarantee of safety and comfort that no other method provides. The materials from which they are made are safe and do not cause allergic reactions (titanium). We emphasize that when choosing implants or an implantologist, you should not look for the lowest price of the service, because in this case health is the most important.

What does the dental implant insertion procedure involve?

Before starting the treatment, a good implantologist takes a panoramic photo and performs computer tomography imaging. Implanting is also preceded by interviewing the patient to evaluate their overall health. This allows the implantologist to exclude any contraindications and to conduct treatment safely.

The procedure itself is carried out under anaesthesia for full patient comfort. Next, the healing process, i.e. osseointegration, takes about 3 to 6 months. After this time, a crown or bridge is attached to the dental implant.

What is the durability of dental implants?

Dental implants are usually a lifelong solution. The element that is implanted in the bone does not need replacing, only the crowns or bridges attached to it can be destroyed or damaged over time.

When to opt for a dental implant?

Every good implantologist will advise you to do it as soon as possible after losing a natural tooth. It is worth immediately informing the doctor about the willingness of dental implant treatment. Depending on the individual situation of the patient, it is possible to immediately start dental implant treatment or secure the until the implant is inserted.

Implantologist – what guidelines to follow when choosing one?

It is best to opt for the services of an experienced implantologist who knows his field well and has the appropriate certificates. They should only use the best and tested implant systems, of which there are only a few in the world. It should be kept in mind that a good implantologist usually works with a team of proven specialists.

How long does the implantation procedure take?

The procedure itself takes about 30 minutes. Of course, the implantologist must carry out all the necessary examinations to prepare the patient for the procedure.

What additional treatments are required for dental implant application?

It happens that if the teeth were lost many years before, the bone has disappeared at the site where the tooth was previously located. In such case it is necessary to use treatments to rebuild and augment the bone tissue. We perform them in our dental practice for the full comfort of patients.
